Laser scar reduction is an option for many who have scars that they feel are unsightly. Many of these same individuals have no doubt tried creams or other scar removal methods without success before considering laser treatments. To gain a fuller understanding of how laser scar reduction works, it is necessary to have a basic understanding of what caused the scar in the first place.

Scarring comes about from the body’s wound healing process. Part of this process involves the formation of new tissue; this involves collagen, a protein that is found in connective tissue that supports the skin, among other things. Too much or too little collagen disrupts the healing process and results in scarring. Too much collagen causes raised scars that can increase in size over time. Other scars may actually fade over time and most of these kinds of scars are the result of surgery or lacerations from accidents. Acne, on the other hand, can cause scars that are actually depressed spots in the skin.

Pender Medi Spa has the technology and skill to treat variations of scars.  Both acne and surgical scars can be effectively removed through laser treatments. Scars on any part of the body can be treated, including facial scars.

With laser scar reduction, a layer of skin is removed, allowing newer and healthier skin to grow in its place. Depending on the exact type of treatment, either the outer layer or a deeper layer of the scar tissue may be removed. Short pulses of laser light reach into the sub-layers of the skin in this case. This stimulates new collagen growth with the hope that the result will be a smoother appearance.

During the treatment, the laser is moved along the scar without harming the skin that surrounds it. It may take a few treatments, but the result will be scars that are much less visible, with new skin growing in their place. Most people require between three and seven treatments to get optimum results.

A positive side of laser scar reduction is that it involves little or no downtime. It is a non-invasive procedure with little discomfort associated with it. Prolonged swelling, itching and redness are much less likely to occur. There is also a low risk of lightening or darkening of the skin comparatively to other treatments.

Pender Medi Spa is Vancouver’s ideal treatment source for laser scar reduction.  For more information or a consultation, call us today!

As most people begin to age, they start to see very fine lines around their eyes or on other places on their face. Even though they do not like this part of the aging process, the changes that they see are not that dramatic. It is usually not until a person notices deeper wrinkles that they begin to start to feel worried and consider what options are available in order to help them erase wrinkles and take other steps to look younger.

One area that many individuals are concerned about is the area that goes right from their nose to the corner of their mouth. As a person loses facial volume and as gravity begins to take a more serious tool on a person’s face, their cheeks begin to sag. This causes them to have marionette lines.

Fortunately, marionette lines are relatively easy to treat using products like Restylane®. Restylane® is a dermal filler that is injected into areas of the face where a person would like to add a little bit of volume. This is a safe product that has been approved by the FDA for cosmetic use.

Despite the fact that there are other dermal fillers on the market, there are several reasons why you should consider trying Restylane® when it comes to erasing marionette lines. First of all, it is a safe product. It resembles what already naturally occurs in your body, namely hyaluronic acid. It has been tested in many clinical studies and has proven to be safe time and again.

Second, it really works. Individuals who have used this treatment have commented on the fact that they love the immediate results they see and appreciate the fact that it is long-lasting. It has gone through lots of clinical studies and has extensive clinical documentation.

Third, it is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments available. Its use began in 1996, and since that time, it has been used in millions of treatments around the world.

In addition to being able to treat marionette lines, there are other areas that Restylane® can help. For example, it can be used to address vertical lip lines and nasolabial folds, which are more commonly known as smile lines.

As you can see, Restylane® is a widely used product that delivers great results time and again. It can erase marionette lines and help you to improve your overall appearance. To see if this dermal filler is right for you, sit down with the medical professionals at Pender Medi Spa in Vancouver. Contact our office today to schedule your consultation.

Some people confuse a Vampire Facelift® with a vampire facial. The photos often shown on celebrity websites that portray someone with a bloody face should not be taken as an indication of what a PRP Vampire Facelift® is or how it’s performed. A cosmetic PRP Vampire Facelift® is a treatment procedure that uses the patient’s own blood as a growth stimulator. The PRP mix is injected beneath the skin in much the same way as BOTOX®. Dermal fillers can also be used along with the PRP. The Vampire Facelift® isn’t really a facelift, so learning more about how it is performed is important for those who are wondering if they are suitable candidates.

The Ideal Candidate for the PRP Vampire Facelift®

This type of procedure is generally performed only on small regions of the face. The treatable problems include crepey skin that is caused by a lack of moisture, dynamic wrinkles that are formed due to thinning skin, drooping caused by loss of strength in the subdermal layers and superficial lesions and surface scarring. Candidates should be in good health and not have any skin conditions on the face caused by a malignancy.

How the Vampire Facelift® is Performed

As stated above, the Vampire Facelift® is not a true facelift because the skin is not lifted and repositioned. Instead, volume is added to the skin through the stimulation of new tissue growth. PRP and fillers are used in order to plump the skin and make wrinkles disappear.

Blood is drawn from the client’s arm. It is spun down in a centrifuge that separates the plasma and platelets from the red cells. The platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is then combined with a fibrin mix. The platelets aid in blood clotting, but they also contain important growth factors that help the body in the healing of a wound.

The platelet mix is combined with a solution that may contain hyaluronic acid or another acid. The mix is injected just beneath the skin. Once injected beneath the skin, the PRP mix will hold its position and draw in nutrients from the bloodstream. The growth factors in the platelets help in the creation of newer, more elastic skin tissue as well as stronger subdermal support tissue. Collagen production is likely to increase as well.

A typical treatment session lasts about one hour. We may schedule several sessions, a week or so apart, to fully correct the problem of wrinkling, discolorations or skin support. The full result takes about three months.

Are You a Candidate?

If you are suffering from brittle, crepey skin that is losing moisture as well as collagen, schedule a consultation at Pender Medi Spa in Vancouver. Dr. Denton and his staff can determine whether you are an ideal candidate for this revolutionary treatment. A Vampire Facelift® can not only restore your face to its more youthful condition, but it can also restore your confidence and raise your self-esteem. Contact us today to book your appointment to learn more.

SilkPeel Dermalinfusion is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that is used to provide improved skin tone and texture. Results can be seen immediately and actually improve over time. Few other methods can demonstrate such immediately noticeable results in texture, tone, volume and hydration. This innovative treatment can help you to achieve renewed, brighter and younger-looking skin.

More About SilkPeel Dermalinfusion

SilkPeel Dermalinfusion uses a patented technology that offers the versatility of being able to treat nearly any skin on the body. It is also effective in the rejuvenation of both light and dark complexions. SilkPeel exfoliates the top layer of skin through gentle abrasion. An innovative feature that makes this treatment stand out from other types of dermabrasion techniques is the infusion of nourishing serums into the deeper layers beneath the skin. This serum will be tailored to your particular skincare needs.

Additional Benefits

There are a number of comprehensive benefits of SilkPeel Dermalinfusion. As previously noted, the skin of the treated area will be exfoliated, diminishing the look of dull skin to reveal a brighter and smoother layer. Professional skincare serums chosen specifically for you will be infused into the skin in order to add nourishment and hydration.

In addition, the treatment provides the simultaneous benefit of lymphatic drainage. This massaging action detoxifies the lymph nodes, eliminating waste products through this drainage. The abrasion process, combined with serum infusion and lymphatic drainage, results in increased circulation. This added blood flow will give your complexion a healthy glow. The culmination of these processes results in the renewal and oxygenation of skin cells, which promote increased collagen production and plumper skin that is firmer and more even in appearance.

Specific Issues Treated

Besides being safe and convenient, SilkPeel Dermalinfusion is also useful in treating a broad range of skin issues. These include:

  • Acne
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Stretch marks and cellulite
  • Sun damage

SilkPeel can be performed on various body regions, including:

  • Back and shoulders
  • Hands, feet, knees and elbows
  • Hips and thighs
  • Stretch marks on the stomach, breasts and elsewhere
  • Face and décolletage

How It Works

The special SilkPeel device is what allows such precise and even exfoliation of the skin. Common issues like acne, cellulite, stretch marks, age spots and dry skin are improved through the added benefit that is provided by the pro-infusion solution into your skin. The fluid is delivered beneath the skin to the base of the pores through a patented vacuum system, ensuring that this valuable liquid doesn’t merely sit on top of the skin’s surface where it will offer no benefits. The results of this procedure are plumper, firmer and smoother skin with approximately 70% more volume.

This cosmetic procedure offers so many benefits to patients. It’s also safe and convenient. SilkPeel Dermalinfusion may be the answer you’ve been seeking. To get more facts about this treatment, visit Pender Medi Spa in Vancouver. Contact us today to schedule your consultation.

Of the various means to combat the effects of aging skin, dermal fillers are among the most popular treatments. Filler injections smooth out the skin either by plumping or otherwise adding volume to the affected area. Most often these filler compounds draw in and hold moisture. These are cosmetic treatment procedures that can be performed in a clinic or spa setting. Dermal fillers add volume in a controlled area where wrinkling is pronounced. Depending on the severity of the wrinkling and the thickness of the skin, one type of filler compound may be more suitable than others. This is why a consultation with Pender Medi Spa is important to determine the correct type of filler treatment.

Types of Dermal Fillers

The most common dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid as the active ingredient. When mixed with a solution and injected beneath the skin, the hyaluronic acid promotes healthier skin because nutrients are attracted to the treated area. The moisture that is drawn in serves to add volume, and the nutrients that the blood supplies aids in the production of healthier skin cells. This type of filler compound actually helps stimulate the production of more and more collagen.

Synthetic wrinkle fillers are a gel containing tiny microspheres. These lodge in areas where the skin layers meet the supporting tissues. They stay in place for a long time, and the result is plumper skin. Synthetic wrinkle fillers tend to fill in crease lines and crow’s feet, making them all but unnoticeable.

Determining the Correct Treatment

We schedule a consultation so that we can examine the face, note the thickness of the skin, and determine which wrinkles are set and which are non-set. We will choose the appropriate filler compound based on the location and size of the treatable area.

Long-Lasting Results

Dermal filler injections are not a permanent solution to the problem of wrinkling skin, but the results can last for a year or so. Even after the compound is flushed from the body, the skin remains supple and taut thanks to the production of collagen that results from the treatment.

Also, the skin is now trained to stay smooth because the newest tissue growth is healthier and firmer. However, repeat injection treatments are often performed on the same area, usually a year or so after the first procedure.

Learn More About Dermal Fillers

Because there are so many types of filler compounds, we suggest that you ask us about which one is right for you. Contact Pender Medi Spa today to schedule a consultation. Serving the Vancouver area, we will be happy to give you all the details and help you reach your cosmetic goals.

Varicose and spider veins are not only unattractive, but they are also painful. Some individuals who are dealing with problematic veins will avoid wearing shorts or skirts. Even though everyone else around them is enjoying the summer weather while wearing summer clothing, individuals with large veins are feeling uncomfortable in their heavy pants. It is only when they are at home and in private that they will wear clothing that exposes these veins.

In addition to not being able to enjoy a wide variety of clothing, varicose and spider veins can be uncomfortable. They can cause painful, itching sensations. Many individuals who are dealing with these veins have turned to laser vein reduction to enjoy its benefits.

How Veins Are Treated with Lasers

When a patient comes in for laser vein reduction, one of our skilled professionals will focus the laser beam of light on the problematic vein. This treats the vein because the heat that comes from the light causes the vein to close. As the vein closes, it is no longer supplied with blood. After some time, the vein will completely disappear.

The benefit that comes from using laser vein reduction is that it is not as uncomfortable as other vein treatments, like ligation and stripping. Also, it does not require as much downtime. When you go through other varicose or spider vein treatments, you may need a general anesthesia to put you to sleep.

Are You a Good Candidate?

During your consultation at our office, our medical professionals will closely examine the veins that you would like to have treated. They will come up with a plan that will help you to treat the veins. Many individuals who come in for laser vein reduction wish they would have done so sooner.

Learn More About Laser Vein Reduction

Laser vein reduction can provide you with many benefits. In addition to treating painful veins, you will also experience cosmetic benefits. You will no longer feel embarrassed to wear shorts and skirts on hot summer days. The next time you are invited to the beach or lake with friends, you will not feel embarrassed to wear a swimsuit and show off your legs. This treatment has helped many individuals get rid of varicose and spider veins.

To get all the facts about laser vein reduction, make an appointment at Pender Medi Spa in Vancouver. Our team of experts will be happy to address any questions or concerns you may have. Contact us today to schedule your consultation.

Smoother, healthier skin is something that almost everyone desires. It can make you appear younger, help delay the inevitable effects of aging and improve your self-confidence. The problem is that most treatments for the effects of aging require more invasive approaches that can lead to infections, scarring and many undesirable side effects. They also tend to be painful, and require a significant amount of recovery.

Non-invasive treatments have advanced to overcome the numerous pitfalls associated with surgical rejuvenation techniques. Microdermabrasion represents one of the most advanced techniques, as it can do everything from rejuvenating the appearance of skin to minimizing the appearance of some scars and wrinkles.

What is Microdermabrasion?

This treatment involves using microscopic needles to perforate the skin. This loosens different components of the skin, which in turn allows for everything from dull skin to fine lines and scars to be treated. The depth and density of the treatment will determine what it can treat. This allows it to remove certain bad cells while fostering healing in other areas of the skin.

How Does It Work?

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment. Microscopic needles target certain layers of the skin, which in turn allows for it to remove undesirable parts of the skin. Once these components are targeted, they become fragile and “fall” off the skin like dead skin cells should. This leaves new, healthier skin exposed while allowing skin to exist in a more efficient state.

Detrimental conditions, such as acne and clogged pores, may be deterred by microdermabrasion treatments. This happens due to the way it removes potential contaminants from the skin. Treatments with nutrient or chemical-based topical agents will also be more effective due to the increased permeability of the skin.

Why Should You Consider Microdermabrasion?

The largest advantage of this treatment is the fact that it can improve a variety of mild to moderate skin conditions without the need for surgery. It can accomplish this by the flexibility involved with the treatment itself.

Another advantage is the fact that microdermabrasion can treat just a small area of the face or the entire face. This allows benefits to be as confined as needed, which contrasts to chemical peels and other non-invasive treatments that require the entire face to be treated.

The convenience of microdermabrasion is yet another advantage. Treatment sessions can range anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes, which in turn means that you can schedule microdermabrasion with accordance to your schedule.

The last major benefit of microdermabrasion is the way that it can improve other treatments. Other non-invasive treatments typically become more effective after a patient has received microdermabrasion.

Is Microdermabrasion Right for You?

Microdermabrasion is one of the few dermatological treatments that most people can benefit from. It is a safe treatment that can allow almost every patient to achieve smoother, healthier skin. To learn more, or to see if it is the treatment of choice for your skin, schedule a consultation at Pender Medi Spa in Vancouver. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about this effective treatment. Contact our office today to book your appointment.

Sometimes your skin just doesn’t look the way you want it to despite how well you take care of it every day. Sun damage, dehydration and the natural effects of aging are enough to make your complexion dull or rough. Chemical peels have many benefits, and it’s definitely a non-invasive way to get the complexion you’ve always wanted.

What is a Chemical Peel?

There are a few different types of chemical peels, and there are also various depths to a peel. Our highly qualified specialist is the best person to decide how deep your chemical peel should be, and it always depends on the current state of your skin and what your goals for your complexion are.

During a peel, the solution is applied to your face where it basically dissolves the outermost layers of skin to reveal fresh, undamaged skin that’s hiding beneath the surface. It’s basically like a reset button for your face. “Dissolve” sounds a bit daunting, but it just means your skin dries up, flakes and peels away. The skin that’s revealed is a little sensitive, but it’s free from various imperfections.

Benefits of a Chemical Peel

There are many benefits to getting a peel! Peels improve the texture of your skin because it’s exfoliating it and increasing the cell turnover for ones that are still young, healthy and free from damage. They’re fast, too. You can get a peel done on your lunch break and return back to your regular activities.

Acne and acne scarring can also be visibly reduced with a mild peel. Not only is it helping clear out clogged pores, but the peel also removes surface scarring as it peels away that layer of skin. Uneven coloring can also be diminished.

If aging is a concern, peels are fantastic and quick ways to remove fine lines and wrinkles. Deep wrinkles won’t be affected by a peel, but those delicate lines are visibly diminished after a few peels. The procedure also encourages collagen growth. Collagen production naturally decreases as you age, and when your skin loses the elasticity that’s provided by collagen, wrinkles and lines form and the skin can become saggy.

Chemical peels are far easier than getting an expensive and invasive surgery done and there is only minimal, if any, discomfort involved. If you’re looking for youthful skin or a glowing complexion, discuss the glycolic chemical peel with our experts at Pender Medi Spa in Vancouver. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have as we determine if a chemical peel is right for you. Contact us today to schedule your complimentary consultation.

Laser hair removal is a procedure that will permanently reduce hair from almost any part of the body. It is one of the most common cosmetic procedures performed. If you need to regularly pluck, shave or wax unwanted hair to have smooth skin, laser hair removal is a great option. A consultation with our expert at Pender Medi Spa can help you decide if laser hair removal is right for you.

Hair has three growth stages, and laser hair removal is most effective during the growing stage. This means in a certain area, the laser will remove the hair in the growing stage and leave the other hair. This is why it takes multiple treatments depending on the size of the area before it is hairless. Laser hair removal is quick and precise. Small areas, such as the chin or upper lip, may only take a few minutes to treat. Larger areas, such as the legs or back, may take up to an hour.

Unwanted facial hair is common for many women. They may spend hours plucking hair from their eyebrows, upper lip, and chin. Men also want to remove facial hair between the eyebrows or in the beard area. We have special treatments for every facial area.

Removing body hair takes more time because of the large surface area. It may take more treatments to remove all the hair from a large area, such as the chest or back, because some of the hair is in the resting or falling out stage and the treatment only removes hair that is in the growing stage. Our experts recommend that treatments are about one month apart. On larger areas, we can cover more hair at one time. On the face, we may target single hairs.

Removing hair from the bikini area is also quick. Some people may shave their underarm area every day. Laser hair removal is a good solution for this, as well. The legs are another popular area that women may shave or wax often.

The hair is treated when the laser light interacts with the pigment in the hair, causing it to affect the hair follicle. It was once believed that laser hair removal was more successful on dark hair and fair skin. However, new technology has developed lasers that work on any skin and hair color.

To learn more about how laser hair removal can benefit you, visit Pender Medi Spa in Vancouver. We can evaluate your unique situation and then determine if this treatment is right for you. Contact our office today to schedule your appointment.
